RUNDOWN:

The workshop will feature three different models, each expertly styled and paired with lovely setups/backdrops. As we work through each model, we will be playing with a different lighting setup. After instruction and showing you how I’ve set up, you’ll each have a chance to photograph the model in the scene with the lighting setup, with 1 on 1 help from me while you shoot! After everyone has had a turn, we’ll move on to the second model and setup, and the same cycle with repeat until we have finished with all three sets/models. Once we’re done with our setups, everyone will be set free to create and experiment. Pull a model from one setup into another, change gel colors, and play around with our accessories, headpieces, and even wings! I’ll be available the whole time to help you with settings, lights, and anything else you need.

WHAT WE’LL LEARN:

-How to use strobes for portraits, and three different strobe setups.
-Modifiers, reflectors, snoots, gobos, grids, and more.
-How to balance ambient/continuous light with strobes.
-How to pose models, and some posing mistakes to avoid.
-How to work with gels & color theory in selecting gel colors.
-Basic photography rules, and when to break them.
- Using Vflats to block/bounce lights.

Join me after Part 1 to watch me cull images taken that day, and then edit a few.
Bring your laptop and edit alongside me.
Experiment with different editing techniques and talk about Photoshop.
Have me there to help and advise you during your edits.
Plus, an EXTRA photoshoot with an extravagant scene, an amazing model, and designer wardrobe.
Dinner & snacks provided.

4:40p – Loading/culling images, chatting. Selecting based on focus, composition, catchlights, pose, etc.
5:10p – Editing Basics – Cleaning up lines, skin retouching & frequency separation, blemish removal, stray hairs, etc.
5:40p – Break & Dinner
6:15p – Editing & experimenting. Playing with colors, layers, layer masks, etc.
7:00p - Break
7:15p – Extra Shoot
7:45p – Free shoot, play around with different headpieces, accessories, gel colors, etc.
8:45p – Pt. 2 ends, cleanup.
9pm – Doors close.
